Early College Program & Dual Enrollment

What is the Early College Program?

The Early College Program (ECP) is a partnership between Azusa Unified School District and Citrus Community College. The program gives Azusa Unified students the opportunity to take Citrus College courses that meet high school graduation requirements while earning college credits. College Credits earned are transferable and accepted by all California State (CSU) and University of CA (UC) schools.

For more information, visit the Azusa High School website.

Azusa High School: A 2026 California Exemplary Dual Enrollment School

Azusa High School is proud to announce that our Dual Enrollment program has been honored with the 2026 California Exemplary Dual Enrollment Award by the California Department of Education (CDE).

Out of thousands of programs across the state, Azusa High was one of only 32 schools recognized for demonstrating excellence in college-credit pathways, equitable student access, and strong community partnerships.

What This Means for Our Students

This state recognition validates our commitment to providing every student with a head start on their higher education journey. Through our award-winning program, students have the opportunity to:

  • Earn transferable college credits while still in high school.
  • Get a jump start on their future by working toward an Associate Degree.
  • Save thousands of dollars in future tuition costs—all at no cost to our families.

Excellence in Equity and Partnership

To receive this honor, the CDE evaluated our program on rigorous standards, including:

  • Evidence of strong, collaborative relationships between the high school and college partners.
  • Proven student outcomes and successful pathways to graduation.
  • Integrated student supports that ensure every student can succeed in a college-level environment.

Cost

There is NO cost to the student. Students do not pay for tuition, fees, or books. AUSD is offering an amazing opportunity to our students to experience the rigors of college courses while saving money.

According to EducationData.org, the average cost of college has more than doubled in the 21st century, with an annual growth rate of 2%. The average in-state student attending a 4-year institution spends $26,027 for one academic year.

General Information

AUSD is looking for students who have a strong desire to go to college, strong work and study habits, are able to work independently, have the willingness to take on challenges, and demonstrate commitment and dedication. Students must commit to a 2 or 4-year program, which includes taking courses in the summer. For more information, please review the presentation and trifold.
