Educational Services
The Educational Services Department in Azusa supports rigorous and relevant teaching and learning across every one of our sites. Our instructional program is designed to prepare students to meet the challenges of the 21st century and be successful in College and Career. We work hard at supporting our staff, students, and community by:
- Communicating effectively
- Creating partnerships
- Fostering a learning mindset
Both Azusa High and Gladstone High offer a great selection of Advanced Placement classes, and robust pathways in industry leading sectors. Additionally, Azusa High is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school and Gladstone High School offers the Early College Program.
Sierra High, designated once again in 2018 as a "Model Continuation School" by the State of California, is one of only a few continuation schools to offer AP classes in the State of California.
Azusa schools continue to make gains on statewide tests, and our graduation rate continues to exceed both the state and national averages.
New California Standards
The New California Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them.
The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy. This video gives a good overview of New California Standards.
