Enrollment and Transfers

We are excited to welcome your student and family to our district!

To get started, you will complete an online registration form to collect essential details, including your home address, emergency contacts, and medical history. 

To finalize enrollment, you will need to submit physical or digital copies of the required documentation listed below.

Required Documents

Please prepare the following items for submission to your assigned school:

• Proof of Residency (e.g., utility bill, lease agreement, or mortgage statement)

• Certified Copy of Birth Record

• Up-to-Date Immunization Record

Additional Documents (If Applicable)

Depending on your student’s educational background, please provide:

• Academic Records: Recent transcripts or report cards from their previous school (AUSD will also request formal records directly).

• Special Education: Most recent IEP (Individualized Education Program) and 504 plans or assessments.

• English Language Learners (EL): Most recent ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California) scores or previous assessment records.

We are excited to welcome your student back for another wonderful school year!

To ensure the safety of your child and keep our records current, all returning families must complete the annual Data Confirmation process prior to the first day of school. This quick process allows parents and guardians to update contact details, emergency contacts, and medical information, and to complete required annual authorizations.

Important: Data Confirmation must be completed by a parent or legal guardian using an Aeries Parent Portal account.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Access the Portal: Click the button below to navigate to the Aeries Parent Portal.

2. Log In: Enter the email address and password associated with your account from last year.

   • Forgot your password? Click the "Forgot Password?" link on the login page to receive a reset link at your email on file. If you do not receive the email, please contact your child's school site.

3. Select Your Student: Once logged in, navigate to the Student tab in the main navigation menu.

4. Complete Data Confirmation: Click Data Confirmation from the drop-down menu and follow the on-screen prompts to review, update, and confirm your information.

From early exploration in preschool to foundational learning in Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten, we provide high-quality, supportive environments that prepare children for lifelong success.

Which Program Fits Your Student? (Age Eligibility)

To determine the correct educational pathway for your student, please review our age requirements based on birthdate:

• Preschool (CSPP): Child must turn 3 years old on or before December 1 of the current school year.

• Transitional Kindergarten (TK): Child must turn 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year.

• Kindergarten: Student must turn 5 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year.

California State Preschool Program (CSPP) Highlights

Proudly recognized as a Tier-5 Quality Start Los Angeles (QSLA) participant, our early childhood program provides a nurturing foundation for children ages 2–5.

• Flexible Schedules: Both Part-Day (8:00 AM – 11:00 AM / 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM) and Full-Day (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM) options available.

• Comprehensive Care: Includes healthy meals and snacks, parent education resources, and direct referrals to health/social services.

• Experienced Educators: Classes are taught by highly qualified, certified early childhood staff.

• Locations: Offered at all AUSD elementary school sites

• Open to Surrounding Communities: No interdistrict transfer is required for non-Azusa residents to enroll in our preschool program.

Welcome to Dual Language Immersion at AUSD!

Give your child the lifelong gift of bilingualism and biliteracy. The Azusa Unified School District offers Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs in Spanish and Mandarin, designed to foster academic excellence, cross-cultural understanding, and fluency in two languages starting in the early elementary grades.

Student Transfer Options

• Open Enrollment (Within District)

  • Who it’s for: Current Azusa Unified School District (AUSD) students wishing to attend an AUSD school other than their designated school of residence.

  • Key Details:

    • The annual application window runs from January 1st through April 30th.

    • Approval is based on available space (neighborhood residents receive priority). If applicants exceed available spots, a random drawing is conducted to establish a waitlist.

    • Written notifications are sent by May 15th.

    • Transportation is not provided by the district for open enrollment students.

• Intradistrict Transfers

  • Who it’s for: Current AUSD students requesting to move to another school within the district outside of or in addition to the standard Open Enrollment process.

  • Key Details:

    • Requires dual approval from both the principal of the resident school and the principal of the requested school.

    • If denied, families may submit an appeal to a district administrator for final review.

    • Applications for the upcoming school year are processed starting May 1st (offices are closed and requests are not processed during July).

• Interdistrict Transfers

  • Who it’s for: Students living outside AUSD boundaries who wish to attend an AUSD school, or current AUSD residents who wish to attend a school in a different district.

  • Key Details:

    • Incoming Students: Must obtain an approved release permit from their resident district and provide recent academic, attendance, and discipline records to AUSD.

    • Outgoing Students: Requests may be granted for qualified reasons, such as completing a school year after moving, senior year continuity, specialized educational programs, medical/mental health needs, or active military duty.

    • Appeals: Denied interdistrict requests can be appealed to the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) within 30 calendar days.

    • Processing for the upcoming school year begins May 1st (offices are closed during July).
